Program Director

    • Experience working with youth, including those with developmental disabilities and behavioral needs (an asset).

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CampBrain (or willingness to learn).

    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

    • Hold valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or obtain prior to employment).

    • Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.

    • Ability to live on-site during summer programs.

  • 1. Program Planning & Development

    • Develop and implement a well-balanced program tailored to the needs of the community and schools.

    • Design, lead, and oversee summer camp programming, including evening programs, activity blocks, theme days, and special events.

    • Facilitate program and planning meetings for summer staff and volunteers.

    • Ensure high levels of communication with the Executive Director and other camp leadership.

    • Oversee the scheduling of all camp activities, ensuring coverage and program effectiveness.

    • Coordinate Leadership-in-Training (LIT) programs for mutual benefit of all camp programs.

    2. Staff & Volunteer Management

    • Recruit, hire, and train summer camp staff and volunteers.

    • Provide direct supervision and mentorship to seasonal staff, ensuring a positive and effective team environment.

    • Facilitate pre-camp staff training and orientation.

    • Conduct end-of-week evaluations for all staff and volunteers.

    • Maintain clear and consistent communication between all camp departments (program, kitchen, admin, etc.).

    3. Administration & Operations

    • Track, maintain, and oversee all program equipment and supplies.

    • Assist with Canada Summer Jobs administration and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for staff and volunteers.

    • Ensure all participants and staff adhere to camp policies and safety procedures.

    • Conduct weekly safety audits and maintain proper documentation.

    • Evaluate overall camp functioning and present recommendations to the Executive Director

    4. Public Relations & Community Engagement

    • Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities and partner organizations.

    • Promote camp programs at community events, schools, and conferences.

    • Engage with guest groups, ensuring a high level of customer service.

    • Develop a volunteer base and maintain regular communications.

    5. Safety & Crisis Management

    • Act as a first responder in crisis situations, working closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director.

    • Train staff on emergency procedures, including behavior management, fire safety

    • Ensure all program areas are safe, well-maintained, and meet required accreditation standards.

    6. Special Programs & Events

    • Design and implement special programming for evening activities, theme days, and activity blocks.

    • Manage campfires, talent shows, and other community-building events.

    • Oversee camper group assignments and activity sign-ups.

    • Ensure alternative programming is available for inclement weather days.

    • Be a visible, active presence at all camp programs.

    • Interact directly with campers and encourage interaction between campers.

    • Assist with general maintenance, cleaning, and site support duties as needed.

    • Attend regular staff meetings to enhance communication and program efficiency.

    • Work closely with the Assistant Director and Kitchen Staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

    • Participate in post-season evaluations and provide documentation of successes and areas for improvement.

  • Note: This position is dependent on government funding and sufficient registration levels.

    $20 per hour 40 hour a week for 12 weeks
