Qualifications:

  • Be at least 25 years of age

  • Have previous leadership experience in a Staff capacity 

  • Have management, leadership, and administration experience of at least two years, in a camping or related field

Duties off site (Prior to Summer Program):

  • Participate in Staff Training Program prior to commencement of Camp session

  • Provide help in orienting new staff prior to the camping season

Duties on site (During Summer Program):

  • Work cooperatively with the Camp Coordinator, Program, and Kitchen staff team.

  • Be sensitive to and strive toward fulfilling the Mission of Camp Grafton.

  • Communicate constantly with Program and Kitchen Staff, Volunteer Leaders, Resource Staff, and Administrative Staff.

  • Evaluate, in conjunction with Program Staff, the functioning of each camp, and the performance of every Volunteer Leader and Resource. These evaluations are conducted at the end of each week and are documents.

  • Evaluate throughout the summer, the functioning and performance of each Staff Member. This process can be facilitated by the Camp Coordinator. The intent of this evaluation is to recognize and applaud good performance and to label areas for improvement that can be focused on during the season.

  • Review with all Staff, in order to achieve common understanding, the Policies and Procedures of Camp Grafton regarding: medical emergencies, fire, behaviour problems, waterfront activities, out trips and other items such as ‘lost’ campers.

  • Chair meetings for a variety of purposes including programming, problem solving, and evaluation.

  • In cooperation with the Program Staff team, program all activities of the Summer Program, and delegate responsibilities to Staff.

  • Work closely with the LIT Director to coordinate programs for mutual benefit of both programs.

  • Evaluate, in the capacity of Program Director, the overall functioning of the camp for the season. This evaluation will include developing recommendations for the following season and will be well documented and presented to the Board of Directors.

  • Reports to and communicates with the Board on and off session via the Camp liaison.

  • Conducts weekly safety audits and keeps documentation of same.

$20 per hour 40 hours a week for 12 weeks
